How chess train works? Day scheme is easy. Around 10 a.m. it leaves. Being in time is absoluty "recommended". During voyage we played normally 2 games rapid chess. Later it's time for dinner. In the early afternoon we arrived our destination.

The train had 11 coaches, which are not numbered, but are named according the world champions from Steinitz to Fischer. In the mid of the train form Lasker to Tal tournament takes place. In Botwinnik you find the organization and referees. In Tal and Smyslov you find boards 1-10 and 11-20. There is a row of 10 boards like a simul with the seats and nothing else as cabins.Others in Euwe to Lasker. Each coaches has got 10 cabins and one board per cabin.

Wie funktioniert der Schachzug? Vom Tagesablauf ist es ganz einfach: Um ca. 10 Uhr ist Abfahrt und Pünktlichkeit ist oberstes Gebot. Während er Fahrt spielt man normalerweise 2 Schnellpartien, danach ist Zeit im Zug zu essen. Am frühen Nachmittag erreicht man die nächste Stadt.

Der Zug erreicht eine stattliche Länge von 11 Waggons. Diese werden nicht nummeriert, sondern sind nach den Weltmeistern von Steinitz bis Fischer benannt, In der Mitte von Lasker bis Tal findet das Turnier statt, unterbrochen von Waggon Botwinnik für die Turnierleitung. In Tal und Smyslov spielen jeweils die ersten 10 Bretter. Dort gibt es keine Abteile und installierte Sitze und wie bei einem Simultan findet sich eine lange Tischreihe mit 10 Brettern. Ganz anders in den hinteren Waggons Euwe bis Lasker. Jeder hat 10 Abteile und für jedes Brett hat man ein eigenes Abteil.

Here I draw my personal balance. In a Swiss-paired tournament your succes can be followed the lower the board number you play. Here it was the name of the coach instead.  Once I nearly plaey in coach "Tal", six times in "Smyslov" where I obviously have been subscribed to.

Hier ist mein persönliche Bilanz. In einem Schweizer-System-Turnier spiegelt meist, wie weit an den vorderen Brettern man spielt, wie gut man steht. Hier sind es die Waggons. Am Waggon Tal bin ich knapp vorbeigeschrammt. Immerhin war ich mehrmals knapp vorbei an den Brettern 11-13-14-15. Überhaupt war ich auf Waggon Smyslov abonniert.
